Commissioned Work

Buying original artwork is a huge investment for most of us. Art can make a big impact on our environment and bring up wonderful memories of people or places we’d like to remember. Commissioned artwork is a wonderful way to maximize your investment by requesting a painting that has a more personal touch. It’s a wonderful way to visually explore and hold close those memories that mean the most to you.

The Commission Process

  • I want to create a piece that you are fully satisfied with, so after you submit an initial inquiry form, we’ll begin with a 20–30-minute Zoom conversation to learn more about the art you’d like to bring into your home. This gives both of us a chance to make sure we feel comfortable with the commission process and agree to move forward. Here are some things to think about before the conversation:

    • What subject would you like me to paint? Do you have photos of that subject readily available?

    • Why is that particular subject important to you?

    • What type of medium (watercolor or alcohol ink & acrylic ink) and size artwork are you looking for?

    • Which paintings in my portfolio are you drawn to? Which style or paintings do you like the most?

    • Where are you planning on hanging or placing your artwork? Is there a particular color palette in the space, particularly surrounding the area where you’ll place the painting?

  • Once we’ve both decided to move forward, we will agree to and sign a commission contract and a 50% deposit will be due before I begin creating your painting.

I’ll make sure to send some initial sketches of the piece. This will be a chance to provide some feedback about the direction of the painting.

We will then have an additional Zoom conversation about halfway through the process to make sure that you’re happy with how your piece is coming along and discuss any alterations that can be made. Depending on the size of the alteration, additional cost may be incurred.

**Please note that if, for whatever reason, you decide to walk away from your commission and not pay the remaining balance, I reserve the right to keep the initial 50% deposit and sell the commissioned piece myself.

  • The remaining 50% plus shipping and tax (only applicable for Maryland residents) will be due once you’re satisfied and the painting is completed.

You’ll received your artwork within 5-8 business days of sending the remaining payment. Shipping for international customers will take a bit longer.

If you’re ready to have a custom piece of your own, please submit an inquiry form below.

Please keep in mind that commission spaces are limited.

I can’t wait to begin our art journey together!
